Our wood technologists select only the finest spruce to ensure exceptional dynamic range and superb tone across the entire spectrum of sound. The Kawai upright pianos boast an exceptionally large soundboard area for greater tonal power and resonance.

Back posts support the plate and help maintain its structural integrity over the life of the piano. Our laminated back post construction is designed for maximum rigidity to provide enhanced tuning stability for decades of reliable performance.

Pinblocks
A pinblock must be constructed and finished to the highest quality standards to ensure maximum tuning stability. At Kawai, we make our pinblocks from the finest hard rock maple and utilize machine-cut thread, reverse-torque tuning pins for easy tuning.

Cast Brass Pedals

Kawai's exclusive Cast Brass Pedals are extremely resilient. Made with a permanently bonded brass finish over a die-cast aluminum core, Kawai Cast Brass Pedals are significantly stronger and more durable than traditional "capped" upright piano pedals.

The K-Series upright pianos offer a level of tone quality and performance that rivals many grand pianos. With sturdy construction for years of reliable service, the K-Series models are excellent for auditoriums, schools and other institutional settings.

Millennium III Action featuring ABS Carbon Action Parts

Most of our Grand Pianos now feature the Millennium III Action. This Action has been well accepted, as you can see from our success in many of the International Piano Competitions throughout the world. The result is a strong, precise and powerful action for the new "K-Series" models.

The Millennium III Action features components made of ABS-Carbon, a new composite material created by the infusion of carbon into our existing ABS Styran.
 

ABS-Carbon is incredibly sturdy and rigid, which allowed Kawai to make the action parts lighter without sacrificing strength. The lighter design makes the Millennium III Action tremendously fast and effortless for the player. The repetition and responsiveness are superb.

Every exacting detail of the action was exhaustively analyzed to meet the stringent demands of the skilled pianist. One prime example of this effort was the addition of a microscopic surface texture on the jack at the point where it meets the hammer. The result of this subtle but important change is a dramatic increase in control during pianissimo playing.

New Cabinet Design

To bring out more elegance to the pianos, a new design has been made. Notice the details of the pianos and realize the new wooden design elements. Wood is used to bring out the extra shine to the pianos. Also new shapes for the edges and many more construction details have been changed compared to the previous models.

"We care about our world". We have changed the weight used in keys from lead to iron. The new K-Series is an innovative change from Kawai. This new K-Series will not be just a succeeding model to that of K-18, 25, 50, 60, 80, but a "Full Model Change".

Soundboard Design

K-Series soundboards are made of solid quarter-sawn, carefully chosen and scientifically tested to exceed Kawai's demanding resonance standards for superior tone. For the K-3 and K-2, the soundboard area, string lengths and number of ribs are maximized to exceed the specifications of other pianos and provide greater power and resonance.
